Privacy Policy of Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana (DSANI)
The privacy of our families, donors and volunteers is a top priority. We are committed to protecting the information you give and we do not share individual data (names, addresses, demographics) without your consent. We never sell or give our mailing lists to other organizations or individuals.
How Do We Use the Information We Collect?
When you participate in a DSANI event, donate to the organization, sign up for the mailing list or request information about our services, DSANI will ask for your name, address, email address and phone number. We may also request some demographic information such as gender, age of the individual with Down syndrome, ethnicity and information about your family. The demographic information may be used in the aggregate for reporting or grant writing purposes. For example, we may tell a funder that 25% of our mailing list resides out of state and that the median age of individuals with Ds who attended our Buddy Walk was 12 years old. We do not release individual data for reporting or funding purposes. If you request information or help for a particular individual and give permission, we may share the individual data with a parent support volunteer or another agency that may offer appropriate services.
Our Use of Website Log Files
When you visit our website at www.dsani.org, we automatically log your IP address, your browser type and your access times. We need this information to conduct site performance evaluations, to see where visitors are coming from and to keep track of the click stream data (the screens our users visit on our site). This helps us to determine what content our members find most appealing so that we can optimize your usage of the site. Like most websites, our site contains links to other websites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you may be leaving the DSANI site and entering another website. These sites may independently collect or request information about you and we encourage you to read the privacy statement of these linked sites as their privacy policy may differ from ours.
Communication
From time to time we may send out email messages soliciting your support, prompting a call to action, or alerting you of DSANI events. In addition, you may receive communications from us if you have contacted us for information or services.
Please note that DSANI maintains several forums where individuals may post information on their own for others to see. These include, but are not limited to social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. DSANI cannot guarantee the validity nor security of posts made by non- staff members of the DSANI office. You are encouraged to research these on your own and ask questions if you have concerns.
Consent
By participating in a DSANI event, donating to the organization, signing up for the mailing list or requesting information about our services and/or using our website, you consent to the collection and use of the information you provide to us as described above. If we make any material changes in our privacy policy or in how we use your personally identifiable information, we will post a prominent notice in DSANI’s newsletter and on our website prior to implementing the change.
If you prefer not to receive any information from us, please contact us at (260) 471-9964 or email us at: administrator@dsani.org.
