iCan Bike Camp - Fort Wayne 2023

DSANI is pleased to be bringing the iCan Bike Camp back to Fort Wayne! Registration costs are minimal for this impactful camp, thanks to generous funding from the AWS Foundation. Not only does the iCan Bike Camp help participants learn to ride a 2-wheel bike, the program also helps foster confidence and independence. The camp is open to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability who meet certain criteria set forth in the iCan Bike registration form. There will be five (5) sessions to choose from, and riders will ride at the same time each day.

    IMPORTANT ITEMS TO CONSIDER BEFORE REGISTERING:

  • Riders MUST be 8 years old before Camp begins. There is no upper age limit. 

  • The registration form outlines measurements that MUST be adhered to (inseam length and weight) both for safety and liability reasons. 

  • A parent, guardian or caregiver MUST stay at Camp, with each rider, each day, for the duration of the rider’s session (75 minutes). Again, for safety and liability reasons. 

  • There is a MANDATORY parent (no children) and volunteer meeting on Sunday, June 4 at 4 pm. at Turnstone. 

  • More detailed information will be emailed to you once your registration form and payment have been received.

Not only does the iCan Bike Camp help participants learn to ride a 2-wheel bike, the program also helps foster confidence and independence! The camp is open to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability who meet certain criteria set forth in the iCan Bike registration form.

There will be five (5) sessions – 75 minutes each, to choose from, and riders will ride at the same time each day.

  • We ask that volunteers choose the same session each day at camp, if possible, for consistency for the

    riders.

    IMPORTANT ITEMS TO CONSIDER BEFORE REGISTERING AS A VOLUNTEER:

  • There are certain fitness level questions on the volunteer form that you must be able to answer in order to volunteer. You will, quite literally, be jogging/running alongside your camper for 75 minutes each day! (There are a few volunteer positions available other than working directly with the riders.)

  • There is a MANDATORY parent (no children) and volunteer meeting on Sunday, June 4th at 4 pm, at Turnstone (Plassman Athletic Center), 3320 N Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN, 46835.
